What’s New - Yip’s Music & Montessori School

Pre-Grade 1
Pre-Grade 1 is an advanced level for CASA 3. Full-time students who become 5 years of age at the end of this year will be accepted in this class.

Grade 1 to 3 Elementary School
Yip’s Music & Montessori School (Markham) was inspected by the Minister of Education Private Schools and Attendance Unit and was given permission to start Grade 1 to Grade 8 elementary programs from September 2004. We have received a certificate of completing a workshop from Curriculum Services Canada and we are currently working on the curriculum, which will be based on the Ontario Curriculum. The curriculum outline will be issued on January 2004.

Inside the Elementary School
The primary goal of the Elementary Program (based on the Montessori philosophy of education) is to empower children to become confident and competent students. The curriculum provides courses including Arts, Language (English, French/Chinese), Geography, History, Math, Music, Health & Physical Education and Science. The program also includes group/Individual piano and violin lessons. All courses are instructed by our experienced and certified Montessori educators and specialty teachers.

After School Programs
The After School Programs are planned for your child to learn and have fun. With so many academic and non-academic choices like Arts and Crafts, Chess Club, Chinese, French, Mandarin, Tutorial class, Piano, Violin and more, Your child will have a taste of music, language and fun.

A Plan for Future
Grade 1 to 8 Elementary School
Yip’s Music & Montessori School (Markham) is planning to expand the elementary programs up to Grade 8 in 2006, Currently we are looking for a land to build a school with a bigger and more able facility to allow more students to learn effectively.

Want the update of your child at school? You can do it online now.

Montessori School Annual Parents Meeting Question & Answer

Q: What makes Yip’s Music & Montessori School unique?
A: Yip’s Music & Montessori School is the only school in Toronto including Chinese Language (Cantonese) and formal music & instrumental training in school.

Q: How will my child fit into a customary program when he or she leaves Yip’s Music & Montessori School?
A: Montessori students are noted for their independent thinking, self-confidence and self-discipline. The longer they are in our programs the stronger these characteristics grow. Montessori students are academically well prepared and typically do very well in new settings, including more customary programs since they developed their individual potential. Most of our graduates are accepted into advanced/gifted level programs at private or public schools.

Q: Most of the Yip’s students’ first language is Chinese. In the future, will the student have any communication problem in English ?
A: No. English is the principal language at Yip’s. Teachers only speak English to teach. students are able to communicate well in English during Montessori sessions. Chinese is only one of the subjects in our program.

Q: What is the relationship between Casa and levels?
A: Children are placed to our Casa classrooms according to their ages, not levels. They learn and progress in their own paces.

Q: Will Yip’s provide hot meal for the elementary students?
A: Yes, we will provide nutritious hot meals to all Yip’s students.
