Admission to the YIPS is through scheduled evaluation in English and Math. Successful candidates are further assessed through progress report cards or teacher reference form and a parent/principal interview to determine academic needs and general readiness for the program. Full and half scholarships will be applied to students with top achievement in the academic and performing arts areas. To apply for performing arts scholarship, audition is required by appointment.

For Performing Arts program, a team of professional artists and teachers evaluate students. The auditions are set up to select students who are best suited for the YIPS. We are looking for students who demonstrate energy, enthusiasm, commitment, self-discipline and potential in all the arts areas. Students at YIPS do not specialize in one area of the arts and are expected to participate fully in all arts areas.

Parent Information Session will be held on Friday and Audition will be held on Saturday by appointment.

This folder contains important information concerning the audition process for placement in the YIPS. Please read it carefully and, after submitting the completed application form and Teacher Reference Form (if applicable), retain for future reference.

The YIPS offers elementary students a comprehensive academic and arts program with opportunities for developing their language and creative talents in dance, music and visual arts.

Auditions for students are presently enrolled in grade 1-5. This is an exciting series of studio experiences in the arts that your child will find exhilarating and enjoyable.

The School's Unionville Elementary Campus is located at 100 Lee Ave near Brimley Road and 14th Avenue. Plan to attend the scheduled information session for parents/guardians of prospective candidates. After the meeting, you will be expected to indicate whether you would like to have your child included in this year's audition process by completing and submitting the enclosed application form.

Applications for a position at the YIPS must be received no later than 1 week earlier. Applicants will be notified by phone indicating their audition date and time. Applicants will attend only one audition date. Please do not call the school. It takes time to review the audition results and grant the scholarships.
