Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s)

I would like to thank you all for helping to make our first semester here at Yip's Private Elementary School a great success. Students have worked hard and have accomplished many things in their time here.

          I would like to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate all the performers at last night's, December 1st, gifted program recital. Everyone did very well and clearly put hard work into their musical pieces.

          By now you have received your child's report card. Please take the time to read over the comments and consider what has been written. We have set apart time to answer any questions or concerns you might have. If the times available are not convenient, or you would like to make an appointment with one of the other teachers who is not the homeroom teacher, then please contact the office for assistance. Telephone interviews are also available for your convenience.

          We would like to remind everyone of our upcoming field trip to the David Dunlap Observatory in Markham. We will be traveling there on Monday December 6th. We will be leaving at 9:00 am and we will be returning shortly after 12:00 pm. The facilitators will be providing a talk on the theme of "Learning about the Nighttime" in their computerized classroom. This will be followed by a demonstration of their 74-inch telescope. As we will be spending some time in their unheated telescope enclosure please ensure that your child comes to school dressed appropriately.

          I would like to remind everyone of our Christmas Banquet and concert on December the 12th. This will be held at the prestigious Crystal Fountain Banquet Hall located at 60 McDowell Gate in Markham Ontario. The presentation begins at 5:00 pm with the Angel's Carols, followed by the Festive Musical Miscellany and finally the Banquet, which will begin at 7:00 with many activities included. I strongly recommend that everyone comes and helps support their children in their concert presentation and school activities. Please reserve your tickets early.

          The Christmas Holiday begins on December 20th. School starts again on Monday January 3rd. We hope everyone will have a safe and festive Christmas holiday. There are many exciting things to do during this time of year. Check out the Markham community website at www.markham.ca for lots of interesting things happening in our own community.

          I would also like to remind everyone of our Winter Camp, which is being held between December 20th to the 24th and December 29th to the 31st. Children will participate in a host of both academic and artistic experiences. Please contact our office for further details.

          Finally I would like to welcome a new student to our Yip's School family. His name is Enoch Li. He is in grade 2. Please help us to make him feel welcome.
